The Log displays information about the FTP Site upload transaction. It contains the command information that is sent to the destination FTP Site as well as the status that comes back. Oculus will notice what are error conditions and mark them in red in the Log for easy identification.
For example:
If you have used an incorrect Hostname in the FTP Dialog you may see this problem. This can also occur if you are not connected to the internet, or if the host that you are trying to connect to is not accessible. Finally, this can happen if you do not have your computer set up to access the internet correctly.
This example shows a good connection to the FTP server, but a failed login. This can happen if the Username is incorrect or if the Password is incorrect.
This example shows an attempt to find a directory that does not exist. If the directory does not exist, you can not put files into it. This is caused by an incorrect entry in the FTP Path field of the Photo Settings dialog or the Movie Settings dialog.
This example shows an attempt to rename a file that does not exist. This may happen the first time you turn on Cycling from the Photo Settings dialog or the Movie Settings dialog. This is not a problem or cause for concern. The later files in the cycle do not exist yet and Oculus notices this and continues. Eventually, the files in the cycle will all exist and the condition will stop.
There are a wide variety of different FTP Servers. Even with the same brand of FTP Server, a particular site may have its FTP Server set up differently than another.
The way that the Web Server and FTP Server is set up at your site may be causing some confusion. Some of the problems that you might be encountering is that your FTP home directory is not the same as your Web home directory.
Here's an example of a common Web Server layout.
/user/you/public_html/htdocs/ * <- this is the full path to your web page directory /user/you/ftp/ * <- this is the full path to your FTP directory
If your Web Server is set up this way, you will need to put the complete path to the file that you want, not a partial path. Using your example, Oculus is putting your cam.jpg file in
/user/you/ftp/cam/cam.jpgWhen you really want it to be in
/user/you/public_html/htdocs/cam/cam.jpgSo, to fix this, you would put the entire FTP path in the Oculus Photo dialog (ie. /user/you/public_html/htdocs/cam/cam.jpg)
If you use Fetch to log into your FTP account, you can see the path that the default FTP login will put you in. From there, you can navigate through directories, noting each one you had to pass through to get to your destination. If you have to go up a directory, this is designated as ..
Oculus has been tested with MacOS 9 and works great. However, many video digitizers have problems with MacOS 9. Unfortunately, MacOS 9 cannot determine this difference and lays blame on the application that runs the digitizer.
To see for yourself that your digitizer has a problem, please attempt to run a different video capture program on your computer. You should have the same MacOS 9 error message. If you don't, then this is absolutely an Oculus problem and we would appreciate it if you let us know.
If this is not an Oculus problem, please send us information about your digitizer and what version of the driver software it has. Also, if you know it, please send us the version number of the version that works! We will compile a list of these and update this page to help others.

Mark Miller confirms getting the Type 119 error whenever a program attempted to use the camera. Logitech told him there is no current plan to upgrade the driver for this non-shipping camera.
Logitech told another reader that the problem exists only with the ADB version; the USB version of the camera should work. Logitech suggested that users watch their web site for news of a possible ADB updater.
Another reader reported that disabling the Color QuickCam extensions also solved a number of problems he was having with other software - including AOL 4.0 and Final Cut Pro.
Chuck Huckabee found no evidence of these hassles: "I've been using my USB QuickCam with OS 9 alphas/betas for months, and it works fine. I have version 2.1.2 of the QuickCam software and I'm using the GM version of OS 9 now."
I'm using Iomega's Buzz product for video capture. I'm running it on a Beige PowerMac G3. All works under 8.6, but anything that tries to access the video on v9 freezes.
